What is MaRS Impact Week?

MaRS Impact Week is a new annual event. This year it will be held online from November 30 – December 4, 2020. MaRS is hosting Impact Week to bring together the Cleantech Summit and the popular Social Finance Forum for five days of engaging and interactive mission-driven activities. It offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, policy-makers and business leaders from across the country and globally to participate in online events, can’t-miss conversations, informative breakouts and more.

 

When does registration close?

You can register up until Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 12:00pm 

 

What platform will MaRS Impact Week be hosted on?

MaRS Impact Week will use the virtual event platform Hopin.to. The week prior to the event (November 30 – December 4), you will receive a confirmation email with the platform log-in information. After that, you can create your profile, access keynote speakers and panels, engage in breakout sessions, and connect with other attendees.

What timezone is MaRS Impact Week being streamed in?

MaRS Impact Week will be streamed in Eastern Standard Time (EST). 

 

How do networking opportunities work?

MaRS Impact Week will have an online hub for automated one-on-one meetings. The networking zone on Hopin offers an experience that feels like FaceTime or Hangouts, with two people paired over a direct video call. In the networking tab, when an attendee clicks the ready button, the system searches for someone else who has also clicked ready. If someone else is available, the two are matched instantly and a two-minute video chat begins. After two minutes the meeting ends. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with others participants via the chat functionality within Hopin. 

An attendee list will be available within Hopin. 

 

Do you offer media accreditation? 

Yes. Please send your Impact Week media coverage plans to impactweek@marsdd.com for consideration.

 

I purchased a ticket and I can no longer attend the event. Do you offer refunds?

Tickets are non-refundable, but you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another attendee.

Will recordings of the talks be available after the event?

Select recordings will be available to attendees after the event.  

 

How do I apply to present my startup as part of the venture showcase?

Our national partner, the CanadaCleantech Alliance, is co-hosting the end-of-day pitch sessions with MaRS and will be assembling a committee of its members to select 15 ventures to present, divided equally between three themes: circular economy (Nov 30), energy (Dec 2) and transportation (Dec 3). Each venture selected will have nine minutes to present, including Q&A from the audience. Venture selection will be influenced by geographic, technology and diversity mix. There is no charge to apply.

 

How do B2B networking opportunities work?

MaRS has dedicated Friday Dec. 4, from 10am to 3pm EST as B2B Day for cleantech ventures, investors and corporates wishing to participate. B2B Day will be managed through the Meeting Mojo online meeting tool, and is possible thanks to the support of Global Affairs Canada, Export Development Canada (EDC), and Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
